What is it? Arthritis is inflammation of one or more joints, causing pain and stiffness. In the hand, it can be debilitating, affecting the small joints of the fingers and the base of the thumb (rhizarthrosis).

Common Symptoms: Joint pain, stiffness (especially in the morning), swelling, limited range of motion, and a grinding sensation during movement.
