Ganglion Cysts
What is it? Noncancerous lumps that most commonly develop along the tendons or joints of your wrists or hands. They are typically round or oval and are filled with a jelly-like fluid.
Common Symptoms: A visible lump, which may change in size. While often painless, they can cause pain if they press on a nearby nerve.
Our Approach: If the cyst is not causing pain or limiting activity, observation may be all that's needed. If it is symptomatic, we may recommend temporary splinting or aspiration (draining the fluid). For cysts that are painful or persistent, surgical removal is a highly effective option to remove the cyst and its stalk, reducing the chance of recurrence.
